Love is in the air

Valentine's day is fast approaching, and I really should have posted this at last a week ago, but I thought I'd share the love anyways ;)

When I was a kid, my mom always decorated the house for Valentine's day.  We had paper cherubs and hearts on walls and windows.  Little red and white decorations on shelves.  It wasn't crazy or overwhelming, but loving and festive.  And the day of, I'd always wake up to a little surprise on the kitchen table.  I remember one year, it was my favourite, cinnamon heart candies in a little plastic heart ornament.  Or a small heart shaped box of chocolates.  She always knew how to make a little something feel so special!

Now, as a mother myself, I try to recreate this feeling for my own children.  Little decorations here and there, set up a Valentine's craft for them to do, and the morning of, I will also have a little (handmade) something set on the table for them to see when they wake up.  I hope when they grow up, they will appreciate those little things, like I do.

I planned on creating so many things for Valentine's day to post in my Etsy shop, but I really only got around to make a few.  I have to say though, I think this first one is my absolute favourite!

I made a few heart headbands :)

I also have a new larger size of ribbon hand kites, this one is called LOVE, of course ;)

You can find it here.

And the simple yet always loved heart felt ornaments.

How do you (or do you) celebrate Valentine's day (and the days leading up to it?

  1. Love the heart memory game, great idea! We craft leading up to the day, we hang some homemade decorations and the little man will get a little handmade something the morning of.

    Enjoy your weekend.
