:: I've been bit by the needle felting bug. I've done a bit before, but then didn't touch felt roving for months until earlier this week. I decided to make characters from our favourite movie, Our neighbor Totoro. I still have to make Totoro himself, and will start working on him this weekend. I haven't decided if these cute little critters will end up in the shop or not though, I'm pretty attached already.
:: I ordered a large shipment of different colours of wool, and will be adding needle felted sculptures and toys to my shop. I cannot wait to receive that beautiful box of rainbow softness in the mail!
:: we found red leaves. Even though it should be too early for that, the temperatures have been dropping at night and leaves are changing already. Some are starting to fall as well.
:: we went to visit friends who happen to have the most beautiful green back alley I've ever seen.
:: we made new friends too!
:: we found a park with a zip line and the kids thought it was the best park ever. We'll definitely have to go back!
:: we canned peaches in honey. And I forgot a major ingredient, the lemon juice (call it a rookie mistake, since it was my first time canning something other than jam). We just tasted them after being canned a few days ago and they are not that great. I'm really bummed about the result, especially since it was so much work to do, but I'll come up with ways to use them. Maybe in muffins, or cakes, on with pancakes... I'll find ways. I don't want to throw them out and waste money. I'm still pretty new at this whole homesteading thing, but I learn so much from my mistakes, that in the end, it's all good.
:: we are getting ready for a trip to Cuba (our first family vacation overseas), happening in a few weeks, and we are so excited!
:: we are making the most out of the end of summer. I really feel like I need to cram as much fun times as I can before school starts.
What have you been up to these days?
